PART 1 – The Explosion
The mission had been routine.
A U.S. Navy destroyer"s" was conducting a security patrol hundreds of miles from the nearest coastline. The sea was calm, the sky was clear, and everyone believed the hardest part of the deployment was already behind them.
Then, without warning…
A deafening explosion shook the ship.
Sailors were thrown across the deck as alarms echoed through every corridor.
Smoke poured from the engine compartment.
Emergency teams rushed toward the blast while others searched frantically for missing crew members.
Among the chaos, Petty Officer Emma Brooks was found lying on the steel deck, bleeding from a deep wound across her shoulder.
She struggled to breathe.
Every second mattered.
Ignoring the danger, Chief Petty Officer Ryan Walker sprinted through flying debris, dropped beside her, and lifted her onto his shoulders.
"Stay with me!" he shouted.
