Part 2: The Silent Partner

I looked up calmly and took a slow sip of my coffee.

“Steal?” I said softly. “I didn’t steal anything, Daniel. Laura transferred those shares to me five years ago — right after she found out about your affairs. She was protecting herself… and me.”

Daniel’s face turned pale. He pulled out a chair and sat down heavily, suddenly looking much smaller.

The truth poured out over the next hour. Laura had discovered Daniel’s multiple affairs and shady business dealings. She had quietly come to me for advice. Together, we had worked with a trusted lawyer to transfer majority ownership to me in case anything ever happened to her. It was meant to protect her future — and now, it was protecting mine.

By the end of that day, I had frozen all company accounts, removed Daniel from his position as CEO, and called an emergency board meeting.

The man who threw me out on the day of my daughter’s funeral was now begging me for mercy.

But I wasn’t finished.
