Before she could answer, she heard soft breathing coming from under the table.
Her eyes widened in terror.
She slowly leaned down to look…
Then she screamed.
An old man was crouching under the table, staring at her with wide frightened eyes, as if he was just as terrified of her. He wore dirty old clothes and clutched a trembling piece of cloth in his hand.
Sami jumped up in shock.
“Who are you?! How did you get in here?!”
The old man slowly crawled out from beneath the table, looking around as though he had no idea where he was.
In a shaky voice, he said:
“Please… don’t hurt me… I was only hiding…”
Sami stepped back while Mariam trembled in fear.
Trying to stay calm, Sami asked:
“Hiding from who?”
The old man suddenly lifted his head toward the door and whispered:
“They’re following me…”
Silence filled the room.
Then suddenly—
LOUD KNOCKS echoed through the house.
Bang… Bang… Bang…
The old man panicked and threw himself behind a chair.
“Don’t open it… they’ll kill me…”
Sami exchanged a nervous glance with Mariam before carefully walking toward the door.
But just before he touched the handle—
The electricity went out.
The entire house fell into complete darkness.
Mariam screamed as she heard fast movement in the living room… then running footsteps… then a loud crash.
Sami quickly pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight.
But the old man was gone.
The door was still locked.
The windows were closed.
He had vanished as if he had dissolved into thin air.
A few heavy seconds passed before Mariam whispered in fear:
“Tell me… where did he go?”
Sami didn’t answer.
Because he was staring at the floor with a pale face…
Wet footprints were appearing on the tiles by themselves…
Slowly leading toward the bedroom.
