The House of Dark Traditions

“This family was built on obedience,” he muttered. “Anyone who refuses loses everything.”

Then he pointed at a beautiful woman in one of the photos.

“Do you know who she is?”

I shook my head slowly.

“That was my eldest son’s wife.”

Fear gripped my chest.

“Where is she now?” I asked carefully.

Silence filled the room.

Then the old man smiled faintly.

“She disappeared.”

My entire body trembled.

I tried pushing past them toward the door, but my father-in-law grabbed my wrist tightly.

“If you leave this house,” he whispered into my ear, “nobody will believe you.”

Then he added:

“People see me as a respected businessman… while you will sound like a crazy woman making stories.”

Tears rolled down my cheeks.

Suddenly—

Gabriel’s phone rang.

He checked the screen, and his face instantly changed.

“Father…” he stammered nervously. “The police are here.”

The old man stood up immediately.

“What?!”

Then loud pounding echoed through the house.

“Open up! Police!”

The old man turned toward Gabriel furiously.

“Did you tell anyone?!”
