Jason froze

The officers exchanged looks.

One of them stepped forward. “Sir, turn around.”

Jason’s entire body stiffened.

Megan immediately took two steps backward like she suddenly didn’t know him.

“Oh my God,” she muttered. “Jason, you said she was unstable — you never said—”

“SHUT UP, Megan!”

That scream sealed everything.

The officers handcuffed him right there in my parents’ dining room beneath the family photos he once pretended to love.

As they dragged him outside, he twisted toward me with pure hatred burning in his eyes.

“You think this is over?” he spat.

I looked at him calmly.

“No,” I replied. “I think it’s finally starting.”

And then Megan did something nobody expected.

She pulled a folded envelope from her purse and handed it to me.

“I was going to wait,” she whispered shakily, refusing to look Jason in the eye. “But after what I just saw… you deserve to know.”

Inside were printed screenshots.

Bank transfers.

Secret credit cards.

Loans.

And something much worse.

My stomach dropped.

Jason hadn’t only come for my inheritance.

He was drowning in nearly $400,000 of hidden gambling debt — and he had already been using my identity to secure some of it.

The room tilted around me.

Mr. Thompson’s expression darkened immediately as he scanned the papers.

“Olivia,” he said carefully, “this changes everything.”

Jason went pale.
